On the back of this photo it says: Jon Olson's fathers name was Ole Jensen. My dad (Lars) told me that they wouldn't let Grandpa Ole in this picture because he refused to change his clothes!

Picture was taken before 1910 as Great Grandpa Ole was still alive at this time.

Mom (Ellee) said that her grandmother, Anna, died when mom was about four years old, so that would have been around 1928. She remembers this because Grandma Dolly took her, Aunt Joyce, and a then new baby Marily to Anna's deathbed to say their goodbyes, and she remembers her grandmother asking to kiss the new baby, so Grandma Dolly bent down with Marily in her arms and let Great Grandma Anna kiss Marily on the cheek. Aunt Marilyn is four years younger than mom.
ReplyDeleteAlso, mom says that Great Grandpa Jon Olson lived to be around 90 years old. She believes that she remembers that during mom's senior year in high Grandma Dolly went to Montana to visit her family, and that was the last time Grandma saw him alive.
ReplyDeleteMom also remembers that Anna Olson never learned English, she spoke in her native Norwegian tongue, but that Jon Olson learned English even though it was very broken when he spoke.
