Haven't been around much...

But I have found quite a bit of information about the Grandma Dolly's parents, and grandparents, as well as a picture of the farm in Norway that they were from.

I will post pictures soon, but promised my grandma I would show her the pictures first.

Marilyn Brown and Great Granddaughter Kendra

This is Marilyn holding Kendra when Kendra was 3. Kendra is the daughter to Melissa, who is Melodee's daughter. Melodee is the youngest of Marilyns 5 kids.

This picture was taken at one of the Turner Family reunions up by Payson. One of the last few that Marilyn was able to attend.

Dean and Ellee Methvin in Scottish Garb

Dean and Ellee were very active in the Scottish American Military Society (SAMS) and the Scottish Caledonian Society.

Ellee's mother, Dolly Turner, was full Norwegian; but her dad, Earl Turner, was Welsh, Scottish and Irish.

Dean was of Scottish ancestry, even having a town and castle in Scotland that belongs to his ancestors. Their plaid belongs to the Royal Stewards, part of the royal plaid in England due to Sir Methvin marrying the sister to Henry VIII.

Dean Methvin Navy Picture

This is Dean A. Methvin, husband to Ellee Turner Methvin. Dean was a Gunner's Mate aboard the USS Enterprise during WWII. He was aboard her during all but her final three battles of the war, when he was medically discharged for a wound. Dean earned two purple hearts and two bronze stars during his time in the Navy. His plane was shot down several times, and he was wounded in the head and the leg (the wound that earned his discharge). One of the times his plane was shot down, the pilot was killed. They both landed in the ocean, and Dean kept the pilot afloat until a ship arrived to rescue him.

On the back of this photo it says: Jon Olson's fathers name was Ole Jensen. My dad (Lars) told me that they wouldn't let Grandpa Ole in this picture because he refused to change his clothes!

Jon And Anna Olson (Parents to Grandma Dolly)

Jon Martin Olson was born in Norway on June 19, 1856 to Ole Jensen and Kristine Jonsdatter. He married Anna Thea Nelson born January 29, 1860 in Norway around 1880. In 1882 they came to the United States and settled in the Wilmer Minnesota area.
